MABRY BAND DIRECTORS




DAN WELBORN

Mr. Welborn has taught bands at Mabry since 1993. Mabry Band students have enjoyed consistent superior ratings at the Georgia Music Educators District 12 Band Festival since the school's inception. Additionally, Mabry regularly places students in the Georgia All State and District Honor Bands. In January of 2007 the band performed at the Georgia Music Educators Association's annual conference in Savannah, GA. Most recently the band has been invited to perform this December at The Midwest Clinic in Chicago.

Mr. Welborn earned a Masters in Educational Administration / Leadership from Georgia State University (2000) and a Bachelors in Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi (1993)/. A french hornist, he has twice performed at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, IL; once with Tara Winds(2001) and once with The Cobb Wind Symphony(2003). Additionally, he is an FAA certified flight instructor and commercial pilot. He and his wife Kerry have one child, Ryan.




KIMBERLY LEMMICK

Kimberly Lemmick is a 1998 alumnus of Lassiter High School.  While in high school she was a member of the Georgia All-State Band, District 12 Honor Band and served as Drum Major for the marching band during her senior year.  A flute player, she received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Kennesaw State University.  While in college she performed with the Wind Ensemble, Flute Ensemble, and various chamber ensembles.  She has also performed with the Atlanta Wind Symphony, Cobb Wind Symphony, the Georgia All-College Band, and the College Band Directors National Association Intercollegiate Band. Additionally. she has performed at Carnegie Hall with the National Wind Ensemble and at The Midwest Clinic in Chicago on two separate occasions. While working with the flute section and drum majors, Ms. Lemmick has been an instructor with the Lassiter H.S. Marching Band since 1999.

Ms. Lemmick is very excited to join the staff at Mabry Middle School. Before coming to Mabry Middle School, she spent three years as Associate Director of Bands at Floyd Middle School in Cobb County. In addition to assisting with the school's concert bands at all grade levels, she was the yearbook advisor for the school.  Ms. Lemmick resides in Woodstock, Georgia.
